Americans to Receive Social Security Payments in March & April—Here's an Extra $967 in SSI for You

Millions of Americans will soon receive important Social Security payments in March and April 2025.

Some beneficiaries may even qualify for an extra monthly payment of up to $967 through Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Here’s what you need to know about eligibility and payment schedules.

Who Will Receive Social Security Payments in March?

The Social Security Administration (SSA) follows a structured payment schedule based on beneficiaries' birth dates:

  • March 12 – Beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th of any month.
  • March 19 – Beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th of any month.
  • March 26 – Beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st of any month.

For some individuals, these payments can be as high as $5,180, depending on their work history and earnings.

Can You Qualify for an Extra $967 in April?

In addition to regular Social Security benefits, some Americans may qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), which provides an extra monthly payment of up to $967.

To qualify for SSI benefits, you must:

  1. Be 65 or older, OR have a qualifying disability.
  2. Have low income and limited resources.
  3. Meet eligibility requirements set by the SSA.

SSI payments are based on financial need, so the lower your income, the higher your SSI check.

If your income exceeds the maximum threshold, you may not qualify for this benefit.

How to Maximize Your Social Security Benefits?

To ensure you receive the highest possible Social Security payments, consider these strategies:

  • Delay Retirement – Waiting until age 70 to claim benefits results in significantly higher monthly payments.
  • Work at Least 35 Years – Social Security calculates benefits based on the highest 35 years of earnings. A shorter work history leads to lower payments.
  • Maximize Earnings – Higher wages throughout your career contribute to larger Social Security checks.

Plan for Your Benefits

With March Social Security payments on the way and SSI benefits available for eligible recipients in April, it's important to check your eligibility.

If you think you may qualify for extra benefits, visit the Social Security Administration (SSA) website or contact 1-800-772-1213 for more information.
