SSDI Recipients: When Your January 2026 Payment Arrives With 2.8% COLA

If you receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), your January 2026 payment includes a 2.8% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) to help cover rising expenses like rent, utilities, and medical costs.

SSDI benefits rise 2.8% in 2026 via COLA, boosting the average monthly payment from $1,586 to $1,630 ($44 more) and the maximum from $4,018 to $4,152 ($134 more).
  • Average SSDI: $1,586 (2025) rises to $1,630 (2026), a $44 increase.​

  • Maximum SSDI: $4,018 (2025) rises to $4,152 (2026), a $134 increase.​

January SSDI Payment Schedule

For SSDI started after May 1997:

  • Birthdays 1–10: Jan 14

  • Birthdays 11–20: Jan 21

  • Birthdays 21–31: Jan 28
     

Earlier Payments

SSDI started before May 1997, or SSDI + SSI: Jan 2 (payment issued early due to weekend).

Payments are delivered via direct deposit or Direct Express card. If your payment hasn’t posted, check my Social Security account and wait three business days before reporting.
